Throw on the bellbottoms, strap on your Birkenstocks and head to Old Market Square for the ultimate be-in on Wednesday, July 20. Get into the groove of the Psychedelic Fringe with the Performer Free for All at noon. The Free for All is a lively way for you to get the inside scoop on the performers and plays showcased at this year's festival.

Following the Free for All, we encourage you to mellow out and play hooky on Opening Day. The MTS Outdoor Stage will be buzzing with family fun, zany performers and live music until midnight.

Graffiti at the Fringe: graffiti artists share talent for Fringe fundraiser

Twenty local graffiti artists are creating a splash at the Psychedelic Fringe. Participants will paint their canvases from 10 AM to 5 PM on July 20 in Old Market Square. You’re invited to check out their original artwork at Fringe Central (MTC Lobby) during the festival. If you have designs on adding colour to your home or office, place a silent auction bid on your favourite painting from July 21 to 30 at Fringe Central. Proceeds from each work of art will be split between the artist and the Fringe Festival. The Winnipeg Fringe Festival appreciates the support of Graffiti Art Programming Inc. for making this fundraiser possible.

 Why Buy a Theatre Draw Ticket?

The Winnipeg Fringe Theatre Festival is proud that the money you spend on tickets goes straight into the bellbottom pockets of deserving performers. However, we still need help raising funds for venues, tents, lighting and sound. All the proceeds from this draw will go directly to Fringe Festival operations. Tickets will be available at Advance Tickets (MTC Lobby), and from the Info Tent and ticket sellers at the Outdoor Site.

SATURDAY, JULY 30: Best of the Fest

The Best of the Fest… these are the shows that blow your mind and give you the get-up-and-go to keep on Fringin’ right to the end.

In keeping with the spirit of the summer of love, the Head Hippies of the Psychedelic Fringe are giving you – the people – the power to decide which shows are best of the fest. And you know what the great part is? You don’t really have to do anything but see shows, which you’re doing anyway. The rest of the time, you’re free to chill out at Old Market Square.

Here’s how it works. On the last day of the Psychedelic Fringe (Saturday, July 30), we will leave the first spot of the day open at each of the 11 regular venues. The company with the most ticket sales and popular momentum at each venue will get an extra show during that time slot. The Best of the Fest is part fundraiser, with 50% of revenue going to the Fringe Festival. The other 50% goes directly to the winning companies.

Advance tickets for Best of the Fest go on sale after the top-selling shows are announced on Thursday, July 28. A list of the winning companies will be posted on the website in Schedules & Updates and around the festival site. Tickets to all Best of the Fest shows are $8.
