How to Fringe

1. CONSIDER THE FRINGE PROGRAM YOUR GOOD LUCK CHARM. No gambler worth their salt would hit the tables without a lucky rabbit’s foot and no Fringer should hit the festival without a program. You want to win (as in, knowing when and where all the great shows are playing), don’t you?

2. CHOOSE A PLAY. Show descriptions* and the master schedule tell you everything you need to know. Last-minute program changes are posted at the Info Tent in Old Market Square, and are also available at Fringe Central (174 Market Ave) and www.winnipegfringe.com.

3. BUY A TICKET. Like Vegas, the show options at Viva Las Fringe are endless, and the ways for you to get tickets to the shows are too. You can buy them individually or pick up one of our great passes and save a lot of money – a better deal than a 99¢ buffet! See details on this page.

4. FIND YOUR VENUE. Most venues are within a 10-minute walk of Old Market Square (a.k.a. the Strip) – the site map (pg. ) makes it easy to find your way around.

5. ENJOY YOURSELF. Fringing is a gamble – some shows will hit the jackpot, others will tap out. But like any good bet, it’s worth the risk. So let it ride and check out more than one show, and then enjoy some of the other amenities Viva Las Fringe has to offer – namely, food, beverages and entertainment in Old Market Square.

6. PASS THE HAT. Elvis impersonating and plate spinning doesn’t always come with a huge payout, and neither does busking. So, after enjoying the entertainment provided by these talented performers, please show your appreciation by tossing a loonie or toonie – or go all in with all your chips – into the hat.

7. REMEMBER: No refunds. No exchanges. No latecomers (Set your watch to official Fringe time – available at the Info Tent – and get there before the show starts or you’ll find yourself in the Casino’s black book).

*Show descriptions, warnings and audience recommendations are provided by the performing companies.

Fringe Programs/Souvenirs

Why do you need a program? Because it's really not that easy to keep track of 141 companies, more than 1,000 performances and miscellaneous festival information without one. Unless you're some sort of genius card-counting type who regularly gets kicked out of casinos.

Programs are available for only $5 at Liquor Marts and Safeway stores.

Show your love for all things Fringe with festival t-shirts, mugs, tote bags and other merchandise. This year, we're selling Fringe Fan Collector's Buttons for only $2. Fringe merch is available at the Info Tent (Old Market Square) and at Advance Tickets (Fringe Central, MTC lobby).

Wheelchair Acessibility

The Fringe strives to make as many of its venues as possible accessible by wheelchair. However, due to the temporary nature of many of the venues, it is difficult to have 100% wheelchair accessbility. Look here for more information about which venues are accessible for wheelchair users and those with mobility impairments.
