OUTDOOR PERFORMANCE APPLICATIONS

PERFORMERS - BANDS & MUSICAL ACTS
The Festival will have a limited number of prime time slots available to musical acts. The Fringe will try to select a variety of musical styles for the Outdoor Stage and will not be using a first-come/first-entered system. Because each musical act will be limited to one or two performances, there will be no application fee or deposit levied for musical performers. Applications must be followed by a demo tape within one week of date of application.

PERFORMERS - NON-MUSICAL ACTS
The Fringe will try to select a variety of performance styles for the Outdoor Stage and will not be using a first-come/first-entered system.

The Fringe Festival does not charge an application fee for outdoor performers but we do reserve the right to cancel any or all future performances by that performer should they fail to perform at a scheduled time.

ABOUT THE OUTDOOR STAGE
The Outdoor Stage is located in Old Market Square Park, in Winnipeg's historic Exchange District and is the centre of the Fringe Festival site. The seating area of the park is grass and can accommodate up to 1,000 people. Busker performers use a circular stage located in the middle of the park which allows them to perform in an "in the round" environment.

This stage has general lighting and sound capabilities. Bands and musical acts perform on a bandstand stage which is raised, covered, and equipped with lighting and sound equipment. Performance times for the Outdoor Stage are scheduled from noon until midnight every day of the Festival. Most performers will receive a 45 - 60 minute slot. Buskers and performers will be scheduled into a variety of time slots throughout the day. Bands and musical acts will receive a 45 minute slot as well as an adequate amount of set-up and strike time. We will also be setting up a busking pitch; in the Fringe vendor court.

Any other impromptu busking must be approved by the site supervisor on duty and must not be in direct eyeshot/earshot of scheduled performances on the outdoor stage.

REVENUES ON THE OUTDOOR STAGE — PASSING THE HAT

All performers and musical acts are welcome to "Pass the Hat" to generate revenue. Performers retain 100% of the revenue collected. The Outdoor Stage will not be billed as a "Free Stage", but will be marketed as "Outdoor Stage - Admission: Pass the Hat".

TAXES
All companies/performers are responsible for remitting all fees and taxes to the appropriate agencies. Performers or companies who want to know more about taxes or are from outside of Canada are directed to contact the Fringe for more information.

CONFIRMATION THAT YOU ARE FRINGING IN WINNIPEG
The Fringe will contact all applicants informing them of their application status. All international companies are responsible for acquiring their own work permits and visas.

The Fringe will provide a letter of invitation to the companies accepted into the Festival, but this does not guarantee entry into Canada.

BILLETING
The Fringe Festival will try to provide a billet for those performers who will require accommodations. If you require a billet, please indicate this on your application form.  If you request a billet you will be required to complete a billetting information form at a later date.  The Fringe does not guarantee a billet placement and encourages performers to arrange their own accommodations if possible.
