If you're out Fringing and need a hand, feel free to ask for help. In addition to Fringe and Safety staff (identifiable by t-shirts and badges), there are other resources available to you.
The Exchange Patrol needs to fuel up every now and then. This helpful team is one of your resources while out Fringing. Can't promise they'll share their pizza though! ;)
FRINGE VOLUNTEERS
Friendly volunteers are available to answer questions. You can find them at our information centres, across Old Market Square, around our beverage patios and outside performance venues. Just look for the Fringe Volunteer shirts! You can also email info@winnipegfringe.com or contact the Fringe Hotline at 204 943 7464 for info.
EXCHANGE PATROL
The Exchange Patrol handles all issues and concerns pertaining to safety, panhandling or any unusual or nuisance behaviour. They are trained in mediation, conflict resolution and first aid. Easily identified by their black and blue uniforms, the Exchange Patrol act as the eyes and ears for the Winnipeg Police Service and as the street-level ambassadors for the Exchange District National Historic Site. The Exchange Patrol is also at your service if you need a safe walk.
DOWNTOWN COMMUNITY SAFETY PARTNERSHIP
The Downtown Community Safety Partnership (DCSP) provides community outreach assistance and courtesy walks for added reassurance for downtown workers, visitors, and residents. Download the DCSP app for quick access to safety information, resources and contact numbers useful when visiting the downtown area. To request a courtesy walk, or to report a non-emergency situation of distress or disturbance in the downtown area, please call the DCSP at 947-DCSP (3277).
EACH OTHER
The Fringe is an amazing community of theatre lovers who transform our city every July. When possible, let's help each other out so we can all have a wonderful festival experience! Read our Code of Conduct here.
SAFER SPACES
The Winnipeg Fringe believes all participants – performers, patrons, volunteers and staff – deserve a respectful and inclusive environment in which to enjoy the festival. We invite everyone to enjoy the diverse range of entertainment and offer a welcoming, inclusive, safe and respectful environment for all members of our community and visitors, no matter their age, gender, gender identity or expression, sexual orientation, physical or mental ability, appearance, ethnicity, religion or any other protected characteristic as defined by provincial Human Rights law. All concerns brought to Fringe staff will be reviewed and taken seriously. The Winnipeg Fringe Theatre Festival has the right to ask any person who is creating an unsafe atmosphere to leave the festival.
