Dear Jax
by Stephen Maclean Rogers in collaboration with Jean-Marc LeBlanc

Susan Maclean, freelance journalist of 45 years, covered everything from technology to climate change. Suddenly, after a lifetime of relying on words, she found herself unable to find the vocabulary that had always been so available. After a shocking diagnosis and rapid decline, she passed away suddenly at the age of 65, leaving her family reeling.

While clearing out her house, Susan’s son, Stephen, found boxes upon boxes of letters she had been writing to a guiding spirit name JAX. Through these letters - and the responses she received - Stephen takes us through Susan’s true story while discussing caregiving, mental health and the grieving process. In a positive and life-affirming solo show, we experience a mother and son story that proves how communication can go far beyond words.
